Kathleen Nash

MIFFLIN, Kathleen K. Nash, 70, of Mifflin died at 4:05 p.m., on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.
Born on June 4, 1943 in Chicago, IL, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Jean (Nowak) Kaczkowski. On April 18, 1974, she married her surviving husband, William H. Nash, with whom she spent more than 39 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, Frank Kaczkowski and his wife Vicki, of Mahwah, NJ.
Mrs. Nash was a 1967 graduate of the University of Illinois and was a member of the St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Mifflintown, where she served as CCD teacher, choir director, children’s choir director and Cantor. She was also a member and Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Juniata County.
Kathy loved her cats, Buster and Sugar, and was an avid quilter, who enjoyed her retreats each April at the Wesley Forest Quilting Camp, near Mifflinburg. She also enjoyed her summer religious outings in Cape May, NJ and Wernersville, PA.
She was a Registered Pharmacist and began her career in the Chicago area prior to relocating to Pennsylvania, where she worked at several local pharmacies and hospitals throughout her career, before retiring earlier this year from the Mifflintown Pharmacy.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, from the St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Mifflintown with the Rev. William M. Weary officiating. Interment will be private.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Wednesday, at the church.
The Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown has been entrusted with the arrangements.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and ask that memorial contributions in Mrs. Nash’s memory be made to St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 187, Mifflintown, PA 17059.

Lawrence Feltman

McALISTERVILLE, Lawrence E. Feltman, 74, of McAlisterville, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family at 3:35 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at his home.
Born on March 20, 1939, in Susquehanna Twp., Juniata County he is a son of the late Simon and Grace (Strawser) Feltman. On July 14, 1963, he married his surviving wife, Nancy J. (Davis) Feltman, with whom he has shared more than 50 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael A. Feltman and his wife Pamela, of Thompsontown, Mark E. Feltman, of McAlisterville and his companion Joey Amey, of Thompsontown, Thomas C. Feltman and his wife Amy, of McAlisterville; two brothers, Glenn Feltman and his wife Mary Jane, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, David Feltman, of Richfield; six grandchildren, Lauren Smith and her husband Andrew, Brody, Dylan, Tyler, Paris, Cypress Feltman; four great grandchildren, Rowan, Andrew, Wrett and Haven Smith and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Arlene Feltman.
Mr. Feltman graduated from East Juniata High School in 1958 and spent 20 years serving as the Sextant at the Brown’s United Methodist Church, Cocolamus where he was also a past choir member and trustee.
In earlier life, he was employed by the Eileen Hope Dress Factory, Liverpool after which he spent the next 32 years as a Construction Inspector for PennDOT until retiring in 1995. After 2 years of retirement, Lawrence went back to work as a Consultant for Irvin Engineering until retiring again in 2004.
Lawrence was a devoted husband, who throughout the years he also coached little league baseball in the early 1970’s and was an avid race fan and loyal Penn State Football fan. He found his greatest joy in attending the athletic and go-kart racing events of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from the Brown’s United Methodist Church, Cocolamus with Rev. Candace Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.
Viewing will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any donations in Lawrence’s memory be made to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 115, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to Brown’s United Methodist Church, c/o Kelly Robinson, Treasurer, 1151 Shellenberger Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049.

Major Chad Wriglesworth

BOWIE, MD, Major Chad D. Wriglesworth, 37, of Bowie, MD and formerly of Mifflintown and Chambersburg, died on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at his home.
Born on March 23 1976, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, he is the son of the Rev. David J. and Carrie E. (Brockway) Wriglesworth. On February 11, 2006 he married his surviving wife, Aimee (Woleslagle) Wriglesworth.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Savannah R. Wriglesworth, at home, two sisters, Kimber Perry, of Bluff City, TN, and Nicole Moore and her husband Bryan, of Bristol, VA.
He was a 1994 graduate of Cumberland Valley Christian School, Chambersburg and a 1998 graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. in Pre Med. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Canonsburg and the Pre Med Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Delta-Penn State Chapter.
Maj. Wriglesworth started his military career with the U.S. Air Force until transferring to the U.S. Army in 2009. He was deployed first to Iraq in 2008 and then to Afghanistan in 2011, during which he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Action Badge.
Chad had many interests, he loved flying, was an accomplished trumpet player and a gifted baseball player. Also growing up near Gettysburg instilled a love of history in Chad. His intentions were to become a history teacher after leaving the military.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2013, from the First Baptist Church of Mifflintown, with Major Wriglesworth’s father, Rev. David J. Wriglesworth and Rev. Carl McKee officiating. Interment will follow in the Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown, where full military burial honors will be accorded by a military honor guard.
Viewing will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2013 and from 9 a.m. until the time of service, Monday at the Church.

Barbara Stimeling

THOMPSONTOWN, Barbara Ann Stimeling, 69, of Thompsontown went to be with her heavenly father and beloved husband at 5:03 a.m., on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born on February 28, 1944 in Tuscarora Twp., Juniata County she was a daughter of the late Warren J. and Madeline (Landis) Dowling. On April 7, 1965, she married Clifford D. “Dex” Stimeling, with whom she shared more than 48 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on May 25, 2013.
Surviving are: her children, Daryl Stimeling and his wife Paula, of Lewistown, Wendy Hoover and her husband Lynn, of Thompsontown, five siblings, Warren Dowling and his wife Joyce, of Franklinville, NY, Robert Dowling and his wife Faye, of Rogersville, TN, James Dowling, of Port Royal, Fred Dowling and his wife Dorothy, of Port Royal, Charles Dowling and his wife Roberta, of McAlisterville and she leaves behind four grandchildren, Tiffany Stimeling, Rachel Stimeling, Colton Hoover and Caitlin Hoover.
One brother, John Dowling, preceded her in death in 1959.
Mrs. Stimeling was a member of the Tuscarora Church of the Brethren, Port Royal.
She was a homemaker, who in earlier life worked as a seamstress for Rae Sel, Port Royal, cleaned private homes and served as a baby sitter.
Barbara enjoyed going on Sunday drives and traveling with her husband. She also loved her cat Molly, making family meals, having coffee with the ladies and watching her humming birds and finches. However, her greatest joy came from attending her grandchildren’s activities and spending time with her entire family.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with the Rev. James A. Neimond, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Niemond’s Cemetery, Richfield.
For those who wish, memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Stimeling’s memory, to the Disabled American Veterans, 4219 East Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
There will be no viewing; however, family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the services, Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Jacqueline Kabo

REEDSVILLE, Jacqueline I. Kabo, 75, of Elmcroft of Reedsville, and formerly of Lewistown died at 4:19 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2013, at the Lewistown Hospital.
Born on August 21, 1938, in Johnstown, Cambria County, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Clare (Dugan) McLaughlin.
One granddaughter, Sheynne Kabo, of Lewistown survives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Kabo, a son, Douglas E. Kabo and a daughter, Stacy L. Kasim.
Jacqueline was a graduate of Lewistown High School and a graduate of the LPN program at the Lewistown Hospital, after which, she worked at the hospital as an LPN for many years before her retirement.
Jacque always enjoyed watching TV and being a people person she loved meeting and conversing with people.
There will be no viewing; however friends will be received Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 10 am until 11 am at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
Interment will be private and held at the Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.

John Henry

HONEY GROVE, John P. “Jack” Henry, Jr., 88, of Honey Grove died at 10:45 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at the MS Hershey Medical Center.
Born on August 4, 1925, in Honey Grove, Juniata County, he was a son of the late John P., Sr. and Margaret A. (Adam) Henry. On November 27, 1948, he married his wife, Stella (Baylor) Henry, with whom he shared more than 65 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Barbara H. Gilson and her husband Ralph, III, of Port Royal, John P. “Pat” Henry, III and his wife Karen B., of Academia, Stephen H. Henry and his wife Debra K., of Honey Grove, Sharon L. Henry, of Marysville, and he leaves behind six grandchildren: Clinton Gilson, Adam Gilson, Christina Martin, John P. Henry, IV, Michael Henry, Bethany Adhikari as well as five great grandchildren.
One daughter, Cheryl L. Henry, preceded him in death on July 7, 1963.
Mr. Henry was a 1943 graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg, and a graduate of Eckels College of Mortuary Science, Philadelphia. He proudly served his country during WW II as a Naval Aviator in the US Navy attaining the rank of Lieutenant, and was a member of the East Waterford United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and Sunday school teacher.
He was a 33rd Degree Mason and a member and Past Master of the Union Lodge #324, F&A.M., Mifflintown, a member of the Harrisburg Consistory AASR, Past Sovereign Prince of the Harrisburg Council, Prince of Jerusalem, District Deputy Grand Master of the 19th Masonic District from 1973 until 1984, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Juniata Valley Forest #88, Lewistown Chapter #186, Lewistown Commandery #26, Juniata Valley Council #64, Penn Priory #6 KYCH, Holy Royal Arch Knight, Templar Priests Triune Tabernacle VII, a Very Eminent Past Preceptor, and Past Officer of all the York Rite Bodies. He was also a member of the Tuscarora Grange #774, and the East Waterford Fire Company.
From 1950 until his retirement in1991, Jack and Stella owned and operated the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, and also owned and operated Henry’s General Store from 1950 to 1971 as well as Henry’s Construction from 1960 until 1971. He also served two terms as a Juniata County Commissioner.
A Masonic Service will be held at 6:45 p.m., followed by funeral services at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013, from the East Waterford United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. John C. Park officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the East Waterford Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 3:00 – 6:45 p.m., Sunday, at the church.

Jerome Mitchell

MIFFLIN, Jerome R. Mitchell, 39, of Mifflin died at 3:17 p.m., on Monday, December 9, 2013 at his home.
Born on January 28, 1974 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was a son Maxine (Barner) Mitchell Zook of Millerstown and the late Raymond Mitchell. His wife Sarah I. (Reed) Mitchell, survives.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Samantha L. Mitchell of Mifflin, a step-father, Leonard Zook of Millerstown, sisters, Cindy Mitchell of Lewistown, and Stacey Madera of Mifflin, also 2 nieces and a nephew.
One brother Clell “Will” Mitchell preceded him in death.
Mr. Mitchell attended the Juniata Christian Church, Port Royal.
Jerome enjoyed hunting and fishing.
As per Mr. Mitchell’s request there will be no services.

Nellie Campbell

EAST WATERFORD, Nellie R. “Toots” Campbell, 71, of East Waterford, died at 9:36 a.m., Monday, December 16, 2013, at the Lewistown Hospital.
Born on January 6, 1942, in Lack Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond M. and Mary M. (Kirk) Peck. On April 30, 1965, she married her husband Donald J. “Hinkle” Campbell, with whom she spent more than 48 years of marriage.
Surviving are her children: Elaine Martin and her companion, Charles Henry, Leslie Bishop and her husband John, one sister, Mary C. “Susie” Burdge and her husband James, all of East Waterford, and she leaves behind two grandchildren, Brittany Martin and Nathan Henry as well as one great granddaughter, Mariah Scott.
Mrs. Campbell was a 1960 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, and a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford.
For most of her married life, Nellie was a homemaker, and in earlier life, she worked at the Fashion Bug in Lewistown.
Nellie enjoyed canning, gardening, Longaberger baskets; however, her greatest joy came from spending time with and cooking for her beloved family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013, from the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford with the Rev. Marsha Bookhamer officiating. Interment will follow in the East Waterford Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at the church.

George Harp

LEWISTOWN, George E. Harp, 57, of Lewistown, died at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born on February 7, 1956, in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, he is a son of the late Frank and Pauline (Rupp) Harp. His wife of more than 34 years, Thelma P. (Rice) Harp, of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, whom he married on March 10, 1979, survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Thomas L. Harp, and his companion Marie Downer, of Beavertown, Thelma P. M. Harp and her fiancé Brett Hackenberg, of Lewistown; two brothers, Charles Rupp, of Beaumont, TX and Franklin Harp, of Harrisburg as well as 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Mr. Harp worked as a truck driver, for PennDOT, Harrisburg and later worked for Pyle Brothers Salvage, Mt. Pleasant Mills.
George proudly served in the U.S. Army and enjoyed model cars, watching westerns and was an avid fan of Elvis Presley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, December 23, 2013, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with the Rev. Gary Krabill officiating. Interment will follow in the Maze Cemetery, Thompsontown, where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Monday, at the funeral home.

Helen Gibbons

HONEY GROVE, Helen L. Gibbons, 77, of Honey Grove died at 9:25 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on July 8, 1936, in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Alice S. (Kirk) Whitman. On June 1, 1962, she married her husband, James R. Gibbons, with whom she shared more than 51 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, Lee A. Whitman and his wife Mildred, of Mifflin as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gibbons was a 1954 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, and retired with 16 years of service as a cook/dietary aid from the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Helen enjoyed traveling all over the country following dirt track racing along with the NASCAR circuit. She always looked forward to traveling to Canada with her husband on their fishing expeditions.
As per Mrs. Gibbon’s request, services and interment will be private.

Tracy Weiand

HONEY GROVE, Tracy L. Weiand, 53, of Honey Grove, died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013, at M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born on December 3, 1960, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she is the daughter of the late Barbara (Miller) Dalton. On March 23, 1979 she married Dennis L. Weiand, with whom she shared more than 34 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Heather R. Weiand and her companion Merle Sharar, of Mifflin, a step brother, John “Bucky” Dalton, Jr. and a step sister, Faye Leach. She also leaves behind three precious grandchildren, Jordan A. Sharar, Tatyana M. Sharar and Tucker L. I. Sharar.
Tracy was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved life and enjoyed being in the outdoors, especially fishing and camping; however, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Franklin Trego officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
A viewing will be held from 7:00 p.m. until the time of service, Thursday, at the funeral home.

MIFFLINTOWN, Tammy I. Yetter, 44, of Mifflintown died on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at her home.
Born on March 29, 1969, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she is the daughter of Albert W. “Bill” and Barbara A. (Harris) Yetter of Mifflin.
In addition to her parents she is survived by: a sister, Stacey Koppenhaver and her husband Dan, an uncle and aunt, Tom and Shirley Hockenberry, of Hawk Run, 3 nephews, Tyler Yetter, Matt Koppenhaver, Chris Koppenhaver, a niece, Lacey Seiger, and she leaves behind 3 precious great-nieces, Launa Knepp, Alexis Yetter, and Melody Seiger.
She was a 1987 graduate of Juniata High School and a 1989 graduate of the Williamsport Area Community College.
Her memberships included the Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin and the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post 5863, Mifflintown.
Tammy was currently employed with HP Enterprises as an Investigator.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Pastor Gay L. Irwin officiating.
There will be no viewing; however, family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Ernest Lauver

McALISTERVILLE, Ernest W. ”Ernie” Lauver, 85, of McAlisterville, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Born on February 15, 1928 in Richfield, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Oden W. and Emma A. (Hepner) Lauver. On April 9, 1950 he married his wife, Anna M. (Bassler) Lauver, with whom he shared nearly 46 years of marriage, until she preceded him in death on June 30, 1996.
He is survived by his children, Steven L. Lauver, Sr. and his wife Lynette, of Burnham, Carol E. Schlegel and her husband Daniel, of McAlisterville, Judy L. Haubert and her husband Gerald, of Mifflintown, Diana K. Lauver, and he leaves behind six grandsons and seven great grandchildren.
One brother, Wayne R. Lauver, and one sister, Thelma M. Vaughn preceded him in death making him the last of his generation.
Mr. Lauver was a member of the Richfield United Methodist Church, the NuVisions Center, Lewistown and a life member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 143, Harrisburg.
In earlier life, he worked for General Electric, in Erie, the Harrisburg State Hospital and later for TRW, Harrisburg. Then from 1970 until his retirement in 1990, he worked as an electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 143, Harrisburg.
Ernest was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and deep sea fishing. He was a wonderful father who always helped his family however he could and the time he spent with his grandchildren meant the world to him.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with Pastor Ken Hepner officiating. Interment will follow in the Richfield Union Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 with family present from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

John Freed

EVENDALE, John D. Freed , 74, of Evendale, died at 11:10 a.m., on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on July 10, 1939 in Port Trevorton, Snyder County, he was the son of the late Daniel J. and Ruth R. (Rohrer) Freed. On June 13, 1970, he married his surviving wife Susan M. (Ferster) Freed, of Evendale, with whom he shared nearly 43 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Kirk D. Freed and his wife Renee, of McAlisterville, Jeremy P. Freed and his wife Rebecca, of Port Royal; 1 sister, Joanne R. Dissinger and husband, Mervin, of Yardley, and he leaves behind 5 precious grandchildren, Carter, Daniel, Nathaniel, Emerson and Madyson Freed.
One sister, Carol A. Holtzapple preceded him in death.
John was a 1957 graduate of Greenwood High School, Millerstown and a 1961 graduate of Gettysburg College.
Mr. Freed was employed as a teacher by the Juniata County School District from 1961 until his retirement in 1998. During his tenure at the East Juniata High School, he coached many sports teams including Baseball, Soccer, Boys and Girls Basketball. He was also very involved with community sports teams such as the Richfield Youth Soccer and Little League baseball, McAlisterville Teener baseball and Men’s League baseball. For more than 25 years he served as Secretary for the West Branch Men’s Baseball League. In addition he also served on the committee for Boy Scout Troop 61, of Richfield.
John enjoyed many things like Penn State football, woodcarving, hunting, crossword puzzles and playing chess; but spending time with and attending his grandchildren events held a special place in his heart.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from the Richfield Mennonite Church where he attended with Pastor Aaron Benner officiating. Interment will follow in the Richfield Union Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Richfield Mennonite Church and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.

MIFFLINTOWN, Ryan K. Loudenslager, 45, of Mifflintown died at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at his home.
Born on June 14, 1968 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is the son of Stephen B. and Connie J. (Powell) Loudenslager, of Mifflin.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two children, Haley N. Loudenslager and Dylan T. Loudenslager, both of Mifflintown, one brother, Bryan T. Loudenslager and his wife Brenda, of Nacogdoches, TX, two sisters, Amy B. Felmlee and her husband Mark, of Lewistown, Jaimee L. Stimley and her husband Tom “TJ”, of McVeytown and he leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Loudenslager was a 1986 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown and a former volunteer firefighter.
Ryan was an avid sports enthusiast who followed football, baseball and NASCAR, but his true passion was for his children.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Pastor Michael Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery, Mifflintown.
Viewing will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from the funeral home.

REEDSVILLE, Donald L. Taggert, Jr., 55, of Reedsville and formerly of Coatesville died on Friday, January 10, 2014 at his home.
Born on December 27, 1958 in Coatesville, Chester County, he was a Ruth W. (Whitely) Taggart of Honey Grove and the late Donald L. Taggart.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Ryan M. Taggart, of Pottstown, Megan R. Taggart, of Coatesville, siblings, Pamela Breitenbach and her husband William, Timothy Taggart and his wife Karri, all of Coatesville. He also leaves behind a niece and a nephew.
Mr. Taggart was a 1976 graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School and at one time been employed as a welder at Morgan Corp., Morgantown.
Donald loved to fish, play chess, watch football and his daily devotions of reading his bible; however his greatest joy came from his children.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18th, 2014, from the Wagontown Union Chapel, 469 West Kings Highway, Coatesville, with the Pastor Tim Crans officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.

THELMA P. HARP

LEWISTOWN, Thelma P. Harp, 76, of Lewistown died at 11:55 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on May 27, 1937 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she was daughter of the late Lloyd and Pearl (Mort) Rice. On March 10, 1979 she married, George E. Harp, with whom she shared nearly 35 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on December 17, 2013.
Surviving are her children: Thomas L. Harp and his companion Marie Downer, of Beavertown, Thelma P.M. Harp and her fiancé Brett Hackenberg, of Lewistown; two sisters, Dorothy Reich, of Thompsontown, Lucille Stydinger, of Newport, as well as 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A brother, Ed Rice, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Harp was a homemaker, who also provided child care for many people.
Thelma enjoyed many things such as word search puzzles, cooking, reading “True Stories” magazines and she loved animals, especially cats and dogs.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014, from the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown with the Rev. Timothy George officiating. Interment will be in the Maze Cemetery, Thompsontown.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

HONEY GROVE, Harry B. Murphy, 82, of Honey Grove (Reeds Gap) died at 11:20 p.m., on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on August 29, 1931, he was a son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Henry) Murphy. On January 28, 1967, he married his surviving wife, Brenda L. (Swartz) Murphy, with whom he shared nearly 47 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Cathy Imes and her husband Ken, of Honey Grove, Corey Wilson and her husband Steve, of Newport, Harry R. Murphy, Christopher E. Murphy and his wife Dawna, all of Honey Grove; sisters, Dorothy Shearer, of Mifflintown, Gertrude Dobbs, of New Bloomfield, and he leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
One son, Matthew M. “Matt” Murphy, preceded him in death on June 14, 2008.
Mr. Murphy was a member of the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove, where he served on the Fellowship Committee and as a greeter. He was also a life member of the Tuscarora Valley Heritage Days and a member of the Tuscarora Grange 774, where he was a member of the executive committee and served as steward. Harry also founded the Murphy’s Homestead Machinery Show.
In earlier life, he worked as a painter at the Letterkenney Army Depot, Chambersburg for 33 years until his retirement in 1987 and during his retirement he was employed by Junk’s Lumber Mill, McCoysville for 15 years. Harry also served as Constable of Elections for Tuscarora Twp.
Harry’s hobbies included hunting and playing horseshoes. He was also known to be a die-hard Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2014 from the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove with the Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating and assisted by Assistant Pastor Caleb Burd. Interment will follow in the McCullochs Mills Cemetery.
Viewing will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the church.

In addition to his parents, Sawyer is survived by: one brother, Hoyt M. HONEY GROVE, David L. Eaton, Sr., 75, of Honey Grove (Reeds Gap), died at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on October 14, 1938, in Lack Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Glenness L. and M. Lenore (Page) Eaton. On April 3, 1958, he married his surviving wife Lois (Berrier) Eaton, with whom he spent more than 55 years of marriage.
Surviving are his children: David L. Eaton, Jr. and his wife Grace of Honey Grove, Christine L. Sowers and her husband Daniel of Mifflintown, Glenda A. Slaymaker and her husband Brian of Quakertown, one sister, Rhoda M. Bailor and her husband Glenn of New Bloomfield, and he leaves behind six grandchildren, Robert Eaton, Kevin Eaton, Justin Sowers, Rachel Sowers, Marc Slaymaker and Matthew Slaymaker.
Two sisters, Teresa A. Marshall and Mary Jane Casner preceded him in death.
Mr. Eaton was a 1958 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, and a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford.
From 1960 to 1986 he was employed by Montgomery Wards of Lewistown and Sunbury, after which he retired from Excel Homes of Liverpool.
David was a true outdoorsman, loving to hunt: however his lifelong passion was farming.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Marsha Bookhamer officiating. Interment will follow in the McCulloch’s Mills Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service at the funeral home.
